Summer Education Programs for 2010

 

CSI Wildlife Detectives Youth Camp

Date:   June 28-July 2

Ages    9-12

Time:  9am-4pm (pre & after-care available)

Cost:   $165

  • Challenge your Curious Science Investigators skills at our newest camp program.  
  • Take the wildlife investigators course and work with a team to follow wildlife treasure maps and hunt for hidden clues
  • Search for bones, skulls, feathers, tracks, fur and other signs to solve the mysteries. 
  • Come out an expert Wildlife Tracker!

 

Wildlife Rehabilitator’s Teen Camp

Date:   July 12-16

Ages:   13-15

Time:  9am-4pm (pre and after-care available)

Cost:   $165

Learn how to be a Wildlife rehabilitator through…

  • skills and exercises in medical exam procedures and dressing techniques
  • administering medical care practices to injured or orphaned animals through mock animal exams, wildlife detective sleuthing (forensics)
  • species identification & more!

 

 

Raptor Rangers Youth Camp

Date:   July 26-30

Ages:   7-9

Time:  9am-4pm (pre and after-care available)

Cost:   $165

  • Learn about raptors: Hunters of the Sky---owls, hawks, eagles and more!
  • How do they… fly so high…hunt at night…care for their babies?
  • Learn about our local species and their unique adaptations and habitat needs.
  • View live raptors daily with their handlers, feeding, flying and just hanging out!
  • Play games, make raptor art, record raptor sightings and become a raptor’s buddy!

 

Family Wildlife Saturdays

 

Dates:     June 26       Pond Exploration:Catch & release pond critters, identify species & build a food web

    August 7     Mammals on the Move: Find signs of mammals, learn to identify skulls, bones, pelts

            and make a plaster casting of a mammal track

Time:  9:30-11:30am

Cost:   $5/each $20/family

 

Meet the Raptors and their Handlers

Dates: Wednesday, July 21 and August 18

Ages:   All ages

Time:  7-8 pm

Cost:   $5 donation

 

Meet our Education Bird Handlers and the raptors they care for at Chintimini.  Learn about raptor care, feeding, behavior and reproduction and what it takes to be a handler!  Watch them in their routines in exercise, cleaning and medical care.

 

Evening Nature Walk

Dates: Wednesday, July 7

Ages:   All ages

Time:  7-8 pm

Cost:   $5 donation

 

Take a walk with one of our wildlife experts!  They will guide you through our wetland woods to search for signs of wildlife, identify wetland plant species, scope the sky for birds and dip some nets in our pond.
