Volunteer Spotlight

Judy

Volunteer Judy How long have you been @ CWC?
Since January of this year. Instead of working a shift, I am on call and help out as needed transporting injured animals to the clinic.

Do you have a field of study (past or present)?
My major at the University of Southern Maine was Political Science.

Are you employed outside of your CWC volunteer position?
I have been retired from NASA since 2012.

What is your favorite part about volunteering at CWC?
My favorite part about volunteering at CWC is seeing an animal I have personally rescued become rehabilitated and being able to release that animal into the habitat from which it was rescued.

Do you have a favorite or most memorable patient (past or present)?
The most memorable patient was the Bald Eagle I rescued at the Corvallis airport after it had been hit by an airplane. What an honor to actually hold that regal bird in my arms!

What book is currently on your nightstand?
I am currently reading a legal mystery, Critical Mass by Steve Martini.

What music is in your car right now?
The music I enjoy most is classical guitar.

Where are you from?
I claim Maine as my home state, where I lived on a small island about three miles off the coast in Casco Bay, and the only access to the mainland was by ferry boat.
