Per ODFW regulation, CWC is not permitted to rehabilitate non-native species. For more info, see below.

Songbirds
Call the Wildlife Hotline for:
- Injured or sick adults and young
- Young who appear orphaned (some cases may not need intervention!)
- Cat or dog caught songbirds need immediate care
- Window strikes and vehicle trauma need immediate care

Do not handle before calling! CWC is currently unable to accept ducks, geese, or gulls due to the prevalence of HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza).
For other waterfowl, shorebirds, and seabirds, acceptance to the Wildlife Hospital is on a case-by-case basis

Due to ODFW Regulations, CWC cannot rehabilitate any species of deer. If you find a deer that is in need of assistance, call your local ODFW office!
Rabbit
Due to the presence of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2) CWC cannot currently rehabilitate rabbits

- Humane euthanization of sick or injured rabbits
- Young rabbits, who can be reunited with parents or may not need intervention

Virginia Opossums
Virginia opossums are considered non-native in the state of Oregon. Due to ODFW regulations, CWC cannot rehabilitate opossums.
Call the Wildlife Hotline for:
- Humane euthanization of sick or injured adult and young opossums
- Not all young that appear orphaned need intervention to survive!

Non-native species
CWC (and all licensed rehabilitators) are only permitted to rehabilitate native Oregon wildlife.
Examples of common non-native species include
- Virginia opposums
- European starlings
- Eurasian-collared doves
- Eastern cottontail rabbits
- House sparrows
- Norway rats
For non-native wildlife, we can only provide humane euthanasia for sick and injured animals, per ODFW permitting.
CWC cannot provide any services for domestic or exotic pets. Please reach out to your veterinarian or local rescues for assistance with these animals.
