Penny the American Kestrel
Penny’s Story
Penny arrived at Chintimini Wildlife Center in 2018. She had been taken from her nest and kept illegally as a pet by a member of the public. They soon found out that wild animals are not meant to be house pets and eventually surrendered her. By that time, Penny had been fully imprinted on people and was deemed non-releasable.
She has fully settled into her role as an avian ambassador and has been the star of our off-site educational programs.
Favorite Enrichment
Penny loves her many, many toys (she has quite the collection), working with her handlers and showing off her flight skills during presentations!
